Patzcuaro in Michoacan, Mexico is Sonoma's third Sister City. Patzcuaro, is pronounced "PAHTZ-kwah-ro", a Tarascan name meaning "place of Delight".
Patzcuaro officially became Sonoma's Sister City on June 11, 1997 with the Twinning Ceremony held at the Sonoma Plaza amphitheater. Located in the heart of Colonial Mexico, Patzcuaro is situated 6,100 feet above sea level on the edge of a beautiful lake.
